Stories of Change: Real Impact, Real Voices
We believe the best way to understand our work is through the stories of the people we help.
Tackling Loneliness and Isolation
Our twice-weekly Opt-In sessions provide a vital space for connection, helping to reduce loneliness and isolation for local residents.
“I have really enjoyed coming to the community centre… I have made some nice friends and we all get on well… It is an extremely welcoming community centre with lots of activities involving local people, giving them motivation and things to look forward to.” – Community Centre Attendee
Empowering Young People
At Not About the Bike, we provide a safe space for young individuals to grow their mechanical skills and build confidence. Our sessions allow us to identify and develop future leaders.
“Can I just say a massive thank you for having X today. I could tell he was in his element when I collected him… seeing him socialise meant the world to me and him! It was only a few years ago he was forced to be isolated from all his peers at school.” – Parent of a Not About the Bike Participant
We also run a weekly youth group which gives attendees a range of activities across the year.
“I am just very grateful for the workers and very grateful for this group it is well run and is amazing for anyone who gets to go here.” -Youth group attendee
Supporting Mental Wellbeing Through Creativity
Our weekly craft group classes offer a creative outlet that helps improve residents’ mental wellbeing and provides a space for social connection.
““I always look forward to the craft group – always so much fun!” – Norma Harmer, Crafter & Trustee
